Message From Our President

In 1988, a friend invited me to go to prison with him to share Christ. After going into the prison that first day, I was deeply moved by what I saw.

I went back to my hotel room that night and I could not sleep. I kept seeing the faces of those men, which seemed to all reflect hopelessness. It was then that God began to plant the seed for this ministry of compassion (known today as The God of Hope Ministries).

Matthew 9:36 says, “When Jesus saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were distressed and downcast, like sheep having no shepherd.”

I am convinced that compassion leads to hope. When you talk about Jesus, His life was marked by compassion. There are many examples in the gospels where Jesus showed compassion and the recipient of His compassion also received hope.

Today, we have been given the wonderful privilege to be disciple makers as commanded by Jesus. It’s been my joy to serve Christ in prison where men and women respond readily to love and compassion. I have often heard prison inmates say, “I now have hope!”

WE MUST, LIKE JESUS, SHOW COMPASSION THAT LEADS TO HOPE! In other words, compassion must have action!

THE COMPASSION THAT LEADS TO HOPE WILL:

  • Lead us to pray! Pray for laborers, salvation and transformation.
  • Lead us to go! Ninety percent of ministry is just showing up.For many of these inmates, we are the last link to hope.
  • Lead us to give! Your financial support enables us to give hope.

Please join us in providing hope to those known as “the least of these.”

“Now may the God of Hope fill you with all joy and peace as you believe that you might overflow with hope…” – (Romans 15:13)
